Fiddle Frenzy

Fiddle Frenzy - festival club

A Shetland Arts event.

Fiddle Frenzy is Shetland's celebration of the music and the musicians that have made it one of the world’s most highly acclaimed fiddle playing regions. A must for all fans of traditional music.

“Fiddle Frenzy is the best event I’ve been to – not just in music.”

Moving into its eighth highly successful year, Fiddle Frenzy is a two part event – a fiddle school and a cultural festival. The fiddle school is a marathon seven day (and night) event, offering “students” the opportunity to learn, and immerse themselves in, fiddle music Shetland-style with some of our best and most famous tutors and musicians, followed by concerts and late night sessions. Nobody is excluded.

We offer everything from “absolute beginners” courses to those aimed at more proficient players, giving you a unique and very personal experience. Our students come from all over the world to immerse themselves in the event.  We offer additional music workshops in guitar accompaniment, with further classes in creative writing, painting and drawing, and textiles, cultural tours hosted by our storytellers and the festival club - all coming together to provide a unique island experience.  Music is at the core of this event but there is so much more to be enjoyed by everyone.

You folks planned and put together a wonderful week... I think my playing has been elevated...” Jane Winchester, USA

And that’s probably not the half of it – there will be something new EVERY year to tempt you back again… and again…

2012 dates are Sunday 5 to Sunday 12 August - bookings for the summer schools will begin in December/January with dates posted here soon.
